Hello Andy,

On one of my 2005 225 4 stokes, I have the tilt cylinder (center one) when the motor is all the way down the visual top seal is leaking well seeping a little.
my question is :

the piston rod end has a loop/eye for the pin , does that eye remove from the piston shaft. or do have to disassemble the cylinder to replace the top seal in the cylinder cap , I see it dose not have a retaining clip.. so my thoughts were i can pull the seal and replace it.

Gary,

The cylinder or the entire unit has to be removed from the engine in order to get the rod out. Then the piston has to be removed from the bottom of the cylinder, and the cap removed from the rod that way.
