Default Fuel filters

SIM,

In the past I have used the non Racor type spin on filters. I would replace them every 50 hours, there were cheap, something like $8 per filter. My new boat has the fancy Racor filters with the drain. I have let out a little gas every so often, it look like gas, no water, so my question is, how many hours before I should actually change the Racor elements? They are on a set of 300 HPDI's with about 180 hours.

Thanks,

Kirk

Default RE: Fuel filters

Kirk,

Is that 50 hours of trolling rpm or higher speed running?

The Racors are a much better (and more expensive) filter then any of the other spin-on types. I looked at the Racor site and can not find any information on GPH life.

I would think the same schedule as the other types, but that may be a little over-kill. Do you ever dump out the fuel to see how*dirty it*is? If it looks*clean,(no water or dirt)*then you could probably extend the filter changes a bit. Say every 100hours. imho..........

Andy

Default RE: Fuel filters

Thanks,

SIM, on my other boat with the cheapo filters I changed them very 50 hours regardless of how I ran them. I guess I am guilty of what I often accuse others of, not looking in the manual.

Thanks for the response!

Kirk
