Sorry Tim, it was a crazy day. Our electric power was on and off about 6 times during the day.
Port side of the engine..........not 100% sure, but it looks like the factory speedo tube connection. They come with a fitting like that, and you snip the end of the fitting off and slide the hose coming from the boat over that.
But.......you say the speedo works. Does he have a transom mounted pitot tube fitting?
Where does that hose go to? Follow it back. If it heads down to the lower unit area, thats what it is.
My question to you is what is that tee fitting in the picture for? Haven't seen that on a Yamaha.

Thanks for the response. I should specify that the engine is a 2004 Four stroke Merc 225. I don't know how extensive the differences are between it and the Yamaha. My understanding is that they are identical but for the cowling.
I have no pitot on the transom. The tube in question leads not down, but upwards and toward the front of the engine. I haven't traced it to its end because it's under the black plastic intakes, but I think tomorrow I may.
Not sure what the tee is. Thanks for your help, Andy. I appreciate it.

Well Andy,
Took her out this past Saturday and had the unfortunate occasion to have the cowl off while we were in the water I'll start a new thread for the issue that caused that, but it also allowed me to check to see where that hose I was coming from.
I removed the port side air intakes and the top plastic cover that shields the fly wheel assembly. I found a white reservoir similar to a windshield washer fluid reservoir sitting on two rubber feet that didn't quite fit well into the piece beneath. The hose was coming directly out of that tank. I would have thought coolant overflow if I didn't know better!
The tank was empty, which made me think it was some sort of overflow?

Thats nothing I have ever seen on a Yamaha. Where do all of the hoses go to?

I think I figured out what that tee-fitting was. I think the thin black hose goes back to the water pressure gauge on the dash. I have analog dial PSI on the dash and that tube went to the back of that gauge.

Wonder if thats the same thing as the Vapor Canister on Yamaha's. Is it on the back of the engine?
