Default OX66 oil pump failure???

While running back yesterday, my alarm started going off and the power dropped to limp home mode. The oil level was flashing on the gauges.

The oil level in the main tank was 3/4 full, but the level in the small motor tank was right at the low level. This tank is usually right at the high level when running. I tried using the emergency switch, but that didn't work at all either. In the end, I made a mess and had to syphon some oil out of the big tank to put in the small tank to get back to the ramp. I'm betting my oil pump failed. Can anyone give any input or ideas? How hard is it to change? I have a tournament Saturday and may have to run to the dealer tomorrow to have them fix it.

Update...

pulled the pump in the back of the main oil tank out and here's what I have so far. At idle speed, I have 3.7 +/- vdc at the harness end of the wires and the pump does not come on. I connected a battery charger as a power supple directly to the pump (with 13 vdc) and the pump will run slowly for about 6 seconds or so and then stop. It does not restart by removing and reconnecting the power.

Update 2....

I took a chance a pulled the electric pump on the main tank apart. There was a little corrosion inside and it seems that the 2 magnets had seperated from the casing. The magnets pulled out with the rest of the motor.

I have checked the filter coming out of the main tank and it appeared fine, nothing other than normal oil came out.

Does the alarm get the signal from the same level sensor as the pump? If so, that works because the alarm stopped when I manually filled the engine tank. The emergency switch does nothing, the pump does not come on.

I'm almost sure it's the electric pump...and further ideas?

I just checked the level sensor and it seems to be working. I took the senor out of the engine tank and got the alarm sounding again. I had 12 vdc at the harness end of the pump. It's sending the signal to the pump to turn on.

If you connect a independent 12 volt source right to the pump wire leads, it should work continuously. If it doesn't, its no good.

Does it?

I borrowed a pump from my neighbor. When I press the emergency switch, the pump does run, but I'm still not getting oil into the engine tank. I tried draining the oil level in the engine tank down so the alarm starts again and running the motor at idle on muffs. There still is no oil getting from one tank to the other. I also replaced the small filter on the boat tank prior to trying the new pump.

I got it going. The pump needed to be primed. I just started back checking everything along the supply line since I knew the pump was working. When I took the outlet hose off the pump, I had nothing. I hit the emergency switch and it burped out a little air, then oil. After that, it worked fine. The emergency switch works and while running, the engine tank is filled. Hopefully it is fixed. I have a tournament this weekend, so I'll have to buy from my local dealer, but I'll be ordering from SIM in the future!! This is a great resource forum.
