Default yamaha oil leak

Andy,
We have a 29 Regulator with twin F250's. When the boat is lowered into the water from the lift you can see an oil slick in the water. If you are looking at the port side of the lower unit right above the cavitation plate(i think it is a water passage) you can see oil in there. Also when you lift the motor up oil runs out a small hole (port side) below the cavitation plate. I hope I explained this well enough. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.

Nick,

Its either engine oil or lower unit oil. You will need to verify either.

I've had somebody else look at it and we think it is engine oil. There is no signs of oil leaking under the cowling and the drain plug is tight. Maybe a seal leaking in the midsection leaking down to the lower unit? Thanks for the help.

Could be coming out of the oil pump located on the bottom of the powerhead. You can see that area by looking under the bottom cowling from the front corner of the engine............either side. If you see oil coming down the driveshaft, then thats the problem.

Engine under warranty? Take it in and have someone look at it.
