First, I would like to thank all of you who helped on my Yamaha engine lower unit removal question. I followed your directions and all went well. I appreciated the response. Now I am in need of advice of removing the helm on my 19 foot Keywest. It has a snapping sound when I turn the steering wheel and the wheel also turns a bit hard in places. I would like to replace at least the helm, and take a look at the cable when I remove it from the helm. The problem I have is how to remove the cable from the helm and then how does it go back in. At the hole where the steering cable goes in, it says INSERT CABLE HERE, and there is a type of cotter type key inserted in the hole. If its any help, it's a single cable teleflex helm, and the Teleflex replacement number is SH5094P. It seems to be a standard model. I didn't want to just tear into it without any ideas on how to put it back. I would hate to damage something by doing a dumb mistake on it. If anyone has any input on removing the cable from the helm, I would appreciate the help. I tried the Teleflex website, but theres no info on installation or removal on it. Thanks again all.
