Yamaha Fuel Management Question

I took the boat out for the first time and am trying to understand this system.Im sure I covered 75 miles and the thing says I used11 gallons, that cant be right.During the trip it said I was getting about 3mpg. The only thing I can figur is when I stopped it reset itself.Im thinking about 22gallons sounds right what do you Yammy experts think?I was having power problems i had to wiggle some wires behind the gauge to get it to come on on the way back.By the way its a 1997 200 carbed.

What kind of boat is the engine on? What is the fuel consumption at WOT? What kind of WOT speed are you getting according to the Yamaha speedometer?
