Gill,

Is the Garmin GT52HW-TM designed for freshwater only? According to Garmin's site it looks like it is most suited for freshwater usage.

Correct... the GT23 is CHIRP Down Vu and CHIRP traditional.
It does not have Side Vu.

Basically a GT51 with no side scan.

This is going to be very popular for bottom fisherman using a xs unit.

$157.

Gil

You can only use one ducer at a time as you only have 1 8 pin port...and both of these are 8 pin units.

Gil,

Can you tell us more about the GT15M-IH?

How does this compare to the other entry-level chirp offerings like the TM150? How about depth capability in saltwater?

Thanks

The TM150 is only 300 watts..the GT15 is 600 watts..

Right there you have a major advantage....

I have used it to see good targets down to 500' and bottom far deeper.

Hi Gil,

The GT23-TM seems to offer a whole lot more for less money than a TM150 ....am I reading that right?

I purchased a 741xs from you and have had it hooked up to my old beat up P66 since installing it and the 741xs has given the old cable tied together P66 a new lease on life ha ha!

Million $$ question - will replacing the P66 for the GT23-TM enhance my current soundings?

Shan

Gil,

Sorry to keep pestering you, we are lucky to have your input and its why I will be buying from you this week. I have narrowed down the shopping list and have a few (more) questions!

Are there any issues running a GT-30 and GT-23 side by side on my transom?

Is there a notable difference in SideVu range and quality between a GT51 and the GT30?

I'm replacing a 70s with one of two combinations (7407xsv with GT51-TM) or (721xs + GT23-TM and GCV-10 with the GT30-TM).

As usual the $$$ and the war office are controlling things and there is a $500 difference but should achieve "similar" results.

I see there is a whole let less hardware needed with the 7407xs setup but the other option means less replacement cost if I break something like a transducer (we are often on a beach with the kids).

I'm not that interested in DownVu, traditional Chirp is what I wil run 90% of the time trolling for Wahoo. SideVu I would like to utilize for finding fish in weed lines offshore if possible. A big learning curve there I guess but should be fun!

Last question - are the xs series and the GCV sticking around or to be discontinued in the near future?

Thanks
