The 741xs as far as I know cannot be used with the GSD-21.

Thanks for your input. I'll check with Garmin as well.

Garmin says: must go to 7607xsv with multiple cables to use both xducers. GSD 21 incompatible with 741XS as you noted.

Hi Gil,
I have a nss evo12 and nss evo 9 in a 23' Seahunt. I fish mainly the GOM I am looking for bottom structure in water no deeper than 200'.
I was thinking a B75M or B175M. Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance for you help and advice. Hope I am posting this in the right place.

You are in the right place...

The M will be fine..the H better as the narrow cones are better for bottom detail.

But the H of course lees coverage...

Transducers are always a tradeoff.

Fro deep dropping the FCV 295 and a 16 or 25 element CHIRP ducer will hold its own against any CHIRP unit.

But not so with a 1KW.

As to the ducer to use..too many options..
need to know boat size, if one wants a fairing, in hull or pocket mount....and how deep they intend to use it etc.

Gil what you suggest for a transducer for a 942xs, bottom detail is not as important as mid water detection , tuna, salmon. looking to use the full potential of the 942

The GT23 has both Traditional CHIRP and also Down scan (structure) CHIRP....

Airmar is good...but do not have anything close to that. ..they do not make a unit with structure scan.

Default Mako refit

Hey Gil,
I'm in the process of remodeling a 1990 Mako 250 walk around and need a good unit. I'm thinking the Garmin 7610 for chart and depth. Chirp or reg? I deep drop. Also I want another machine for chart/radar. Tuna birds in the Bahamas. Furuno or Garmin? How does garmin bird mode compare to furuno 6k open array with 4 foot antenna? Should I just do two garmin sand network them? I'm also installing twin 200 Yamaha flybywire outboards. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Colin
