Did you just start fishing? Light attracts bait, bait attracts predators, fisherman are attracted to predators.

For many a year, I hauled my old Coleman lantern to the piers and bridges I fished off of. It was tied to a line and lowered to the water. It's primary purpose was to draw a crowd...of bait that is. First the bait, which we caught and then the fish eating the bait...
Same scenario applies with underwater lights on your boat..it's neat being miles offshore, over a reef and seeing that steady stream of bait flashing in and out of the lights...
At initial glimpse, a person may think that underwater fishing lights on boats tend to be a novelty and only good for party boats at night. Well, they will certainly appear really cool and add more to the party ambiance, but under water lights do a lot more than simply help to make nighttime boating a lot more fun. For one thing, they will facilitate saving of a vessel in difficulty at night simply because they help to make it so easy to find. For another, they truly will be useful as underwater fishing lights because they will attract fish just like a back porch light attracts moths. You may stop the boat having the lights on and experience your own aquarium.
