Default Another OceanLED A6 failure

Mr. Savage,

This is a copy of the letter I sent to the distributor. If anyone on this site can help it would be apreciated.

Hodges Marine,

I purchased three A6 amphibian lights in November 08. I installed three of these lights and checked them before they were installed in January of 09. They all worked fine for about one hour. This past weekend one of the lights stopped working. I checked all connections and re-connected lights and one still will not work.

What do you suggest I do now. I boat in the northeast and these lights were installed on a 32 blackfin which stays in the water from april to october. Now I have only two working lights and one light that will not work and the boat won't be pulled out of the water until October 09.

I am witting this letter to see what can be done since it will be impossible to remove the light and replace until the end of the season. I have been reading that there have been some problems with these which is the reason I checked before installation. I would like some feedback regarding this issue.

What do I do now?

thanks

I would also like to apologize for the delay in replying to your email, but unfortunately we have had several email issues recently and I can longer find our correspondance regarding this issue. Could you please re-send our email correspondance to me and I will get this issue taken care of for you immediately.

Mr. Savage,

Thanks for responding so fast. This was my first posting about this issue. I only sent an e-mail to the retail store where I purchased the lights and they haven't responded. Let me know what you need from me as far as reciepts from the store. Is there anything that can be done to try and fix light or I just need a new one.

thanks

Tony,

From my experience, products bought through retail stores generally refer warranty issues directly back to the manufacturer (ie us here in the States). Products bought through authorized dealers here in US are generally troubleshot by the installing dealer and I work the issues through with them.

I will send through all of the necessary paperwork directly to you to help you get this issue solved and work with you on a direct basis. I will also forward you some troubleshooting guidelines so we can identify where the problem is and the correct solution to get your lights working again.

However since you have the Amphibian light, which really is fairly indestructible as far as the electronics are concerned, it may be more than likely we will need to replace the unit. We understand that to change the unit is a labor intensive and irritable expense, so we can talk about suitable compensation for your efforts when we have isolated the issue at hand.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that of the 10,000 or so Amphibian units we have sold so far in the States, we still have a tiny proportion of these which have issues associated with them. I cannot apologize enough for the problems you have with the unit

Please stand by for my email with the necessary documents.

Default leasons learned

Bob,

I proably should have gotten advice and dealt with you but the price from where I purchased these lights was to hard to pass up. Not that it was the retailers fault but now I am stuck with a light that is installed underwater and dosen't work and the boat isn't going to be hauled untill october.

by the way, the antennas you got for me are working better than expected. no need to look anywhere else anymore.

thanks for the thoughts

No problem Tony and I understand. It is just frustrating as a one man web operation when you offer outstanding support and actually care about the customer and lose sales to people who sell at rock bottom and offer little or no follow up support.

Just out of curiosity what did you pay for the lights? Just browsed the sites and we are exactly the same price.

Good luck and I am here if you need me.
