If I'm not mistaken, these are numbers for the mud hole off the jersey coast. There is another area called the mud hole off of Montauk L.I. The one off of Montauk is what I'm after. Thanks for the response and I'll check my charts to see where this is.
I'm going to Montauk L.I. next week and from what I've been told, there's another "Mud Hole" located somewhere in the Montauk vicinity. It's not the one east of Barnegat.
OK it is the one east of BI. I'm from Jersey, so I got confused with BI. Being from Jersey, I think of BI as Barnegat Inlet, and consequently, the Mude Hole around here is east of Barnegat Inlet. If anyone has #'s for the one east of Block ISland, I'd appreciate it.
Mako211 - 8/29/2006 1:35 PM Do you mean Butterfish Hole?
I dunno?
I'm not from the area. On more than one ocassion I was talking about my scheduled trip and was told to make a trip to L.I.'s Mud Hole. Since I have no idea about the area, I posted the question here.
What are you targeting, giant tuna? If so go to the Mudhole, with the coordinates that,Birdman and myself gave you.The giants are there NOW.Butterfish hole is a productive spot to fish also, and closer to you,but if it's giants you want,Mudhole is th place right now.I'll see if I can come up with any new news.
Get a Captain Seagulls chart that covers all wrecks and fishing holes from CM (Cape May) to BI (Block Island) , from the HC (Hydrographers Canyon) down to the T(Tom's Canyon). There is one that covers this whole area., including LI (Long Island). For that $15, you'll get all these coordinates and more. Then we could avoid all the confusion. This thread reminded me of trying to navigate the inlet at BI on a summer week-end.
