Default Truman Beach, Long Island

Looking to take the kids on a day trip. Anybody been to Truman Beach on the north fork of Long Island. Can you land on the beach, or how close can you get to the beach, etc.
I assume the holding ground is not great there due to rocks.
Any info appreciated!
