Was in town on business this week and drove around looking at stuff. The ramps look pretty good. No one on the water though. No one surf fishing either. Didn't even know there was a memorial to AAL800 there. Bet it's packed on that beach in the summer!

My grandparents had a summer home in Mastic Beach for 50 years; grew up every summer swimming, clamming, fishing aound that lagoon - some of the best times grrowing up. The area has really gone downhill in the last 15 or so years...... really sad. The element down there is not conducive to much of anything productive.....that is putting a PC/light spin on it.... There is a memorial on that beach not sure where. That beach growing up was great. It has seen an unbelieveable amount of erosion over the years - haven't been down in years though...the memories are rushing in just thinking about the place. - Not to be nosy but what business takes you to that area??

Air traffic business. The memorial is right at the main beach parking area. Area didn't look TOO bad, though I don't know what it looked like before. There appears to be some re-planting of seaoats going on. SC corrections were out doing some landscaping.
