Default fishing report

WOW! Stellwagon is hot. Anchored in 175' fished clams, never moved. haddock haddock haddock coolers full to the top. with some whale cod mixed in that didn't fit in the cooler. great time and I think I got a 15 year old hooked for life.

nice, sounds like you did alot better than I did. got a late start , wanted to see what the wind was going to do, started around 11:30 ,. took a long time to get the haddock comin" fished 3 spots from 165- 220 ft ,-10 cod to about 10-12 lbs- maybe 20-25 haddock. lots of short cod. also tossed back a bunch of legal cod.

Well, I put alot of water under the boat and no fish in the cooler.

I am pretty sure I was on the north end of the bank. I did see the whale watch boats but I did not see any other fishermen and I didn't see you Capeannfisherman.

I came back with an empty cooler.

I am going to try again Saturday. (Tommorow)

Maybe I can follow another boat out so I can see where to go.

Does anyone know how to post a map of Stellwagon on this thread? If you do I can show you where I was.

I am happy for you Capeannfisherman. Nothing like a good day fishing.

Skiboat,
We looked for you at the boat ramp, you could have followed us out. compass heading was about 150 out of the harbor. about 17miles. Look at the charts for stellwagon and follow the ridge north to the end. There were schools of bait fish of some kind on the bottom. anchor, clams, and it may take a little while for them to find you. We fished 2 hours before to 2 hours after the high tide and left them biting. The wind turned easterly the temperature dropped 10 degrees almost instantly so we pulled anchor and headed home. Caught my biggest cod yesterday. so did Pete (15years old) and so did Dave his father. The ocean looks rough this weekend "there be a storm out there" east is least west is best.

Capeann, next time you go, I would love to buddy up with you for the ride out, if you will have me along. If you get me close, I won't bug you all day by fishing on top of you.

This weekend looks like a bust. I think I will finish installing my radar.

Darn wind.

Just checked it, looks like it will be "kicking A$$ and taking no prisoners" this weekend.

I always welcome another boat - we were all alone out there yesterday, usually there are several boats in the area. A buddy boat is always a good idea. I'll post when we are planing to go next.
