Default Non Commercial Lobstering in New Hampshire

Does anyone run a 5 potter in NH? I'm looking at buying a house in NH and only now realize that I will have to go to just 5 pots (argh!) and learn a whole new terrritory. I would be fishing north of the mouth of the Merrimack around Hampton and south. They have a lot of rules about gear too. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Fishegg,
You need to have your name on the trap and bouys in addition, a separate trap tag you purchase each year from F&G, you need to file a report your first year and have certain restriction on the escape hatches on your traps. Check out the NH F&G website for all the details. I have 5 traps up in Great bay and was checked last year. With all the rain in the spring and fall the salinity levels were real low. The fishing never really took off like it usually does in July.

Thanks, I did see the level of detail the bylaws have regarding gear. I was wondering if the action is any good outside the mouth of the hampton river north and south. Looks good on a chart, don't mind learning the hard way. I just figured out mass though and hate to drop to 5 pots. You're a little further north than I would be fishing.

Had three traps last year in that area. Did pretty good. Totalled about 78 keepers for the season. Checked them once weekly, poviding the seas were okay and the mouth was somewhat calm.
