Default '06 fluke regs

Are the New York and Connecticut fluke regs still in limbo? I know there was a meeting on April 18th, but from what I've heard nothing concrete came out of it as far as new regs. Why is it always the week before season starts before we know?

Still in limbo in NY. They need to make an announcement by 4/29 or we fish with last season's regs. I doubt that will happen !

New regs are out on Noreast.com. 4 fish at 18" in NY. By next year we'll be down to 1 fish at 24". This crap is unbelievable!

As a fisherman on Long Island. The regs are Bull SH**. They need to use accurate assesments of the amount of fish being caught. The MRFS guess work on landings is fully pulled from their arses. The New York fisherman is taking a beating because we have a worthless representation. There are lawsuits that have been filed against Marine Fisheries. BUT since it's a government agency you know that won't go far.

On my boat, I am considering filet and release consistent with neighboring states far less restrictive size and bag limits. Enough is enough.

These Aholes at MRFS have put 20 % of the party boats out of business and it looks like a lot of local bait shops will go under out here on Long Island too. I wonder how many more party boats are going to go under this year with the bogus bag and size limits not to mention the price of gas.

I think MRFS is just another branch of PETA. They don't want anybody but the commercial guys to fish. Well F MRFS.

Looneytoons,

I totally agree with you, my buddy was at the last meeting (he owns a partyboat on LI). He told me that they are using data which at times is up to 12 years old. Once again NY gets the short end of the stick. It really is disgusting. Lets not forget that the fish are the "peoples resourse" not the state or governments. I have had enough, this might be the year i take the surrounding states regs and apply them. Let the DEC ticket me I am ticked off as well

It really sucks when you're fishing the same waters as the guys from N.J. and they get to keep more fish at a lesser size limit. Where's the reasoning in that? Typical bunch of beaurocrats with their heads up their arses.
