Going to start an ongoing thread here on Striper fishing for the spring run, similar to what Noreast does for all on the discussion boards. Maybe we can get Wiley to keep the post topside so it will be visible at all times. Noticing many of the readers being novice, and would be great to help enjoy there time out on the water. I will post The following topics and results if this seems to peek an interest throughout the season. Good luck to all.
Topics can include, Locations, Bait, Lures, Techniques, Etc.
Report can formatted starting with:
1. Body of water
2. Boat or surf
3. Conditions
5. Tide stage
4. Species
5. Bait or technique used
6. Results
7. PHOTOS
Centered around the NY Bight, Sandy Hook, Breezy Point, East River, and Hudson River.
The key to any reports are you, the fisherman. Report as much as you can, whether it be a successful day or not.

another suggestion would be the way you presented your bait/lure with current against current wind direction stage of the tide Guys that are experienced would look it up if they didn't already know but novice angler's are less likely to know/do this I think that is a great idea but I haven't fished down there yet
CAPTjohnny, count me in, sounds like a great idea, I should be going in shortly and look forward to chasing bass this spring. I would have no problems letting other fishermen in on our results, I just wish there was something like this out there when I started fishing, where you could get honest reports and ideas from "friendly people" with one common goal, catching Bass...
my brother has alreadyt been catching them up in irvington. mostly less than 20 inches but a couple of 25,s mixed in. top of outgoing. blood worms of course. 8 $ a doz up there. cant find em down here yet
tight lines
rumors of bunker in the bight but i think there just rumors???

Great Idea - I will provide any updates once I begin. I will be out next week but may do Flounder in the Shrewsbury. I will also be out Apr 15th for Stripers. I will keep you posted.
Fished the bayshore area yesterday afternoon 3/27 threw a clam out and spiked it. Went on fly fishing the afternoon and got nothing on the fly, what a difference a few days make! Anyway i picked up two small bass on the bait.
Fished yesterday afternoon, 3/28 and caught nothing, didn't see much action around either. Hit the bay this morning 3/29 at the top of the tide for a couple of hours, got the skunk again. There were fish caught this morning, but definatly not by me. No worries I'll try again tomorrow morning.

I think this is a great idea as a new boat fisherman. I am heading out on Sunday to fish the outgoing tide, I was going to try the Pebble beach area and drift some clams and bloods. Any ideas as to a better area? I will be launching from Liberty State Park all year long and look forward to sharing info.
Got the new rig wet today, I've been striking out with the bass the last portion on the week. Heard of a better flounder bite down south, I needed to break the new motor in and descided to run south for a little cruise. Got back inside and got a few Flounder, nothing to write home about, but still a tug on the end of the line.
Jjust wanted to thank everyone who helped me with some info on redoing my boat. Especially Ali and Glenn thanks guys. Boat ran good, I borrowed a prop and was a little under proped. Need to get a few more hours on the motor before I change the oil and head for my place in the obx next week.
my friend comercal fishes in the hudson (by the TZ bridge) He put one net out for herring (100') He got 100's of white perch, dozens of small strippers (last years hold overs, about 6" to 10") and all of 3 herring. I herd roomer of a 19lb'er caught this weeked near peirmont. (but no info as to what used for bait or from shore or boat)
