Default NY TUNA

I know this really isn't a fishing forum but its FEB. and I want to get excited about something. I would be heading South out of FI inlet does anyone know places where I can catch some Tuna about 20-40 miles out?

schooly blue fins push in to the mud hole area sometime july and after (monster ledge is as good a spot as any) the chunck bite ends very early in the am! (often before 8am, boat traffic drives them down) I've never done mutch trolling in the area, but they do get them, but on weekeds it's tough!(too mutch boat traffic)
not sure about the range (may be a little far) but from the HA bouy (very flat in their) out to the rock piles and the virgina wreck, any where along that 30 F curve is where I would want to be! out along there you have a mutch better chance of getting yellow fin, and white marlin, with the possibility of a stray wahoo if the warm water movers in write. (mahi could be anywhere)
how where you going to fish for them?

Trolling might be your best bet, but that particular range limits you. Where are you fishing out of?

We were catchin school bluefin while fluke fishing off of Ocean beach last year in July. We were less then a mile off of the beach. We also had them the week before at the Linda. Just listen to the reports on noreast or your VHF and the word will get out.

What time of year..... last year you could get your fill of Bluefins just 15 miles south of Montauk. You were only aloud to keep one..... this year it is my understanding that you can keep one fish, but I believe the size is still increased to 47".

Last couple of years small schoolie blue fin showed up between weather buey and the virgina But plan on shark fishing too.
Probably one per boat next year. I know they came close to shore last year(ccaught them in 60 ft of water with 2 oz cripple hearing) but you will probably never see that again.
