Picking up the new boat Monday night and need to run her from Toms Inlet to NY Harbor. Any suggestions on route, time, etc. I will probably take it easy and run 35 knots most of the way. Thanks in advance.

Just follow the coast, especially in a new boat... Actually a mile off will be more direct. I guess it's about an hour @ 35kts. Stay away from Roamer Shoal on the outgoing.
No problems until you get to the bridge. Man, there's a lot of crap in the water!
Barnegat is a bit further away. I'm guessing ~2hrs inlet to VZ bridge. BI can be nasty. I've only been out of it in a party boat. There may be some guys on thebassbarn.com with local knowledge.
2 hours is about right from Barnegat inlet to Verrazano bridge at 35 knots. Its a straight shot up the beach, turn left when you pass the hook.
Should have no problem with the inlet unless its honking. Barnegat Inlet is about 20 miles south of Manasquan inlet. Get some charts for the bayside, there are some very shallow spots on the inside
Fountain is the only manufacturer to water test all boats before sent out. They actually complete the 2.5 hr break in for you as the factory is waterfront. I know its funny 35 knts is like a "slow cruise" it's very spoiling. Thanks for all the help guys. I have all the necessary charts and experience, just never been south of the hook yet. Will keep everyone posted and hopefully will learn to post some pics soon.

I go through Barnegat Inlet about once a week this time of year. It can be tricky, but we get used to it. It is marked pretty well on the inside. Do NOT venture outside the channel, the area surrounding the channel could be as shallow as twelve inches! Also be prepared (time wise) to go through a no wake zone about a quarter mile before the lighthouse on the way to outside. If you have never driven through this inlet, be real careful before heading North. You MUST go the East end of the North jetty where the red marker is sitting on top of the rock pile (I have seen many boats make a left before the end of the submerged jetty) Once you are outside not much to worry about.
When in doubt, follow a boat that 'appears' to know what he is doing.
If you are picking up the boat in Toms River, go north in Barnegat Bay to the Manasquan Inlet. Although it is slow going and there are alot of no wake areas, you are going in the correct direction. Why go south just to turn around and go north? From the Route 37 bridge (Seaside to Toms River) to BI is almost 14 miles.
Special-K is right , do yourself and your lower units a favor and run north, especially if you do not know the lower bay and it's "channels". One false move and you can wax the hull while standing in ankle deep water.
