Default Differences between Interlux Aqua, Pettit Hydrocoat, and Aquagard

I was asked to post this in this forum as most of the questions came from fellow Northeast boaters.

Good info. I have a question as I'm getting ready to paint the bottom this week.
I have a bunch of bare spots where the paint has come off and shows exposed gel coat. Tell me if my thinking is correct here:
I was planning to paint over the bare spots with a brush with some barrier coat, let it dry, and then roll the whole bottom with black ablative. Leaning towards hydrocoat. Pretty sure I used it last year. And what paint do you suggest to cover the bare spots?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Peter, sorry I missed your post. I never recommend spot priming. In the bare spots, solvent wipe to remove residue and waxes. Use a good quality dewaxer, followed by sanding with 80 grit, dewax again and then apply the Hydrocoat direct to those areas.

When you spot prime, your just asking for trouble.
