Default Warranty and service repair

I am considering the purchase of a new boat that will be powered by either Suzuki or Honda.
The boat dealer himself does not offer repair service on engines and therefore I need to find a place in the northeast part of MA (nh,me) that will service the engines.

My local Honda dealer in Salisbury when asked about providing service said, "his customers come first so I cant make any promises". Seems like if you dont buy from them you are on the bottom of their sh*t list.

Anyone have any suggestions as to who to look to.

No I don't and you are right. The factory doesn't care either. It's not like a car where they have to take you. Unless you have a good relationship with your dealer/yard they will put you at the bottom of the list unless you buy it from them. I bought my boat out of state but before I did I asked the local dealer if they would do warranty work on the boat and they said they said the same thing; bottom of the list. Before everyone gets all over me for not buying from the local guy, let me say that I did go down there and was treated like sh*t. My local boat guys, who are not dealers of the boat that I bought, said they would take care of the Yamaha warranty work. They are an authorized Yamaha dealer. They did so because I did buy a boat from them in the past and they store and maintain my boat, oh and I pay my bills with them. Good luck.

I don't know what dealer you're referring to, but when I had my initial
problems with my boat and couldn't trust the dealer I bought from, I
ended up taking it to Riverfront Marine in Salisbury. They did, and have since,
taken care of all of my warrenty issues and billed the mfg. This included sending
the boat down to Florida for a fuel tank replacement. I make it a point to
schedule work/maint. as far ahead as possible to accomodate their work load,
but on the occasion that I needed help ASAP, they were nothing short of great
about taking care of me. Based on this I'm 90% sure the next boat will be from them.
I'm not sure if they service Suzuki or Honda, but it would be worth a phone call.
Good Luck.

Codfisher,
What kind of boat are you looking at? I saw something you posted about engines on another tread here. Someone said you are interested in Steiger. If you are, J&W Marine in Salem, MA just became dealers and they are also authorized Suzuki dealers. They do a good job.

Ok, you're still keeping us in the dark...

Honda or Suzuki power, I earlier thought a Steiger Craft, maybe it's an Eastern.* In any case, Great Bay Marine in NH is an excellent Honda dealer; Overland in Newburyport, J&W in Salem or Cape Ann in Gloucester would all be fine for Suzuki.
