I run 70 miles south of Montauk to the canyons with a single 225. I always feel somewhat uneasy though. That's why I'm always looking for others who run out of Mtk or RI to run with. Anybody interested?

Thunnus-
I actually run out of Buzzards Bay. But if you're talking about any trips to Fishtales then I'm game. The more boats that buddy up for the canyon runs the better. Strength in numbers!!
Thunnus-
I have a Pursuit 2470WA with a 225 4 stroke.
I usually monitor ch68. Keep in touch during the season and we'll coordinate some offshore trips.
I have a '98 25' parkersport cabin DV with a single new 4-stroke250 (in 2 weeks)and I have run offshore 40 - 70 miles offshore on the right day's for the last 6 years with a 2-stroke 250. The key is meticulious maintenance and knowing when you have a problem before it is kicking your ass silly and being properly prepared as best you can. Unfortunately my old motor wasn't running well enough for what I was doing , so it is gone and now I will have the Suzuki W/ a 6 year waranty and hopefully no need to even use it!! I am very exicited for the new season and my new F250 coming next week!! I fish out at Montauk every sept for at least a week or two but sometimes leave my boat out there for alot longer.

We once ran 47 miles with a single 250 EFI on our old 23 Regulator and broke down. We managed to eventually get it started and were able to get back. That was the last time we went offshore before we got our 26 with twins.
I go everytime there's good weather. Those of us with smaller boats should stay in touch, that way if one or two of us can't go, a couple of guys wanting to go together can still do so.
I plan on doing a lot of fishing out of point judith this year, I normally fish out of boston but I decided to stay mobile this year,I did get to the mud hole afew time last year ,I run a 23 footer with a single suzuki 200 four stroke and I usually run from boston out to stellwagen al the way to p town,a few years back I landed a three hundred pound bluefin out on stellwagen thats a thirty mile run out of boston harbor. So if any you guys want to tean up offshore count me in.

guidodt - 3/6/2005 12:11 AM I to would like a running mate this season. Out of SE CT (New London area). I have twins but it's still nice to not go solo.
Give me a shout a couple of days before you head out. I make 6-7 offshore trips a year, mainly the dump and shipping lanes.
I run out of Buzzards Bay as well in a Regulator 23.* Keep me in mind for buddy boating.* I haven't been that far offshore on the Reg.**Though I have taken a few trips South of*The Lanes*on my Uncle's Fortier.* The single engine thing has me a bit spooked below the North side of The Dump.* But with a "Few Good Men," I would be willing to push it harder...weather permiting.
Parapapam-
did you ever see that segment on NESN where the capt. of a 24' Regulator does an overnighter to the canyons? I think they left from Hyannis and it was one of those rare days when it was glass calm. They did pretty well on the YFT and mahi too.
Stay in touch as the season progresses. We'll have a mosquito fleet flotilla.

It seems we all have a passion for fishing offshore ,I thought it would be a good idea if we all got together somewhere like a pub or casual restuarant ,talked about our fishing experiences and did a little networking this way when the season rolls around we'll all be friends by then and it will be easier to call on one another when the weather breaks.
