MA/Federal Cod Regulations - The Hull Truth

I am planning on heading over to Stellwagen to do some cod/haddock fishing - from what I understand the recreational cod fish regs for federal waters, which includes Stellwagen, will change as of May 1st - the daily limit per person will be lowered from 10 to 9 cod and the minimum length will drop from 24" to 19" - I have been monitoring the MA Marine Fisheries web site and it appears that the cod regulations for MA waters will not change - 10 cod per day with a minimum length of 24" - does anyone know if this is correct and/or whether the MA cod regulations will change as of May1st??? - if the MA cod regs are not going to change are we going to run into the same type of problem with cod as we have with striped bass?? - if we bring cod fish back from Stellwagen that are between 19 and 24 inches into MA waters and get checked by the MA Environmental Police are we going to be in trouble??? I sure would like to know what is legal before I head across to Stellwagen

Call Jared Silva (program coordinator) at the MA DMF 617-626-1534. He told me last week that MA was planning to announce an emergency action before May 1, that will have MA regs mirror the new Federal regs for both cod and haddock.
