Default Bulk Ice South of Cape Cod

I am going out later this week and was wondering where are some areas that I can take the boat to get ice loaded directly on. I know that I could go to New Bedford but is there anything available on MV or on the South side of the Cape that is accessible going out towards Nantucket? I am looking to take on 500+ pounds.

Thanks
Jay

Good question! Of course the almost all of the marina's sell ice but typically in 5 or 10 pound bags and it is pricey. I know that Nancy's Restaurant right on Oak Bluffs Harbor in the vinyard sells ice by the 50 pound bag.. but still pricey compared to just loading on bulk ice.

I would suggest calling Cape Cod Ice Company. They have a warehouse facility in Sandwich with trucks that deliver around the cape. If you asked, they might meet you somewhere and load you up with ice.

Also, if you hold a commercial license and are fishing commercially if you commit to sell to a certain broker they may come and load you up with ice off there truck..

Just some ideas.

Unless things have changed its cheaper to buy ice at Stop and Shop than at Cape Ice in Sandwich. They used to cut fisherman deals but not lately. The only thing in favor for them is that they did sell it in 40lb or so bags. I do know in Falmouth I think Kappy's wasnt to bad and they had larger bags too. I can't wait for market basket to come into Sagamore, as they have 15lb bags that are just right. If anyone knows a good deal definitely post it here as being on the cape feel like we are out of the loop. Although I am in Fairhaven right now, so can't complain wit Crystal Ice.

cataumet fish market sells totes of ice for 4 dollars or something like that. 2 totes will fill a 150 QT cooler so its not a bad deal

Crystal Ice is on 178 front street in New Bedford. You can buy bags right under the overpass.

At Crystal Ice you can also get crushed ice blown onto your boat by the half ton. I think it's either $30 or $40 per 1/2 ton.

If you tie up on the south side of the Cape. Try Brewster Ice.

I know the Chatham Fish Pier and Stage harbor has ice but not sure if they sell to just anyone without an unloading permit
