Default SOLD...Anyone need a mooring in Salem/Beverly

I have one for sale in a prime location outside the bridge. It's on the Salem side of the harbor in between the old Beverly/Salem bridge and the Beverly harbor master. It took me years to get a mooring in that location and the Salem harbor master is allowing me to sell the location as well as my mooring gear. 3500lb block, new pennants and chain in July 2009. Can fit up to a 30ft 12k lb boat. $1800 for everything as is.

That's pretty cool they will allow you to sell your spot. Is that common practice down in your neck of the woods? Up here you can't rent or sell your mooring spot- they claim renting it is against federal law and selling it would be a disservice to those on the waiting lists.

What is interesting is that I received my mooring renewal form a few weeks back, they don't even know where in town my mooring is, they just know I have one somewhere. Really makes you wonder, guess I should have just dropped in my mooring anywhere I wanted. They charge $140 a year here.

There was always a cherry Reg on a mooring out there, if it is yours, then that's a great location in the mooring field. Good luck with the sale,

I don't get it. You are selling a mooring location or equipment?

I thought all moorings were regulated by the town and had to be paid for every year.

Please explain.

I'm down the river but was considering mooring to save on costs.

Is that mooring over by the Black Lobster? (Stromberg's, for those of us who have been around for a while.)

Meanwhile in Newburyport, there has been controversy brewing over a conflict of interest in the management of the moorings:

Be thankful you are in Salem

That's actually in Newbury, a separate town from Newburyport.

It is by the black lobster, but didn't have a regulator on it. I didn't have a boat on it last year, it was in a slip at glover wharf.

The sale is for all the mooring gear and the location. There is a wait list to get outside the bridge and my spot is one of the only open ones that's relatively close to land. I waited 4 years to move my gear out to that spot.

I got permission to leave it in the same spot. It does have to be paid for each year which it has. I have the current bill in hand and the harbor master told me to wait to pay until it was sold. He would then transfer the information for the new owner and issue a new mooring number when the new owner paid the bill.

Hi can you give me a little more info? Do you have a map showing the location? and how is the land access?
Where do you park and leave from?
Thanks,
Mike
