Default atlantic city boat show

I drove down today out of shear boredom. It was a very good show. The drive down was a little slow between rush hour and weather, but the trip back was fast.

There were a lot of varied styles of boats, in all price ranges from the merely outrageous to the jaw dropping.

Lots of fishing gear, Canyon runner was there as well as tournament cable, and I also got to play with some electronics I've been following.

The new Garmin mfd's are not ready for prime time yet and the new FLIR hand held will probably disappoint anyone wanting it for boating.

Even at the expense of a 15 hour day, I enjoyed it.

It looks like the next newport show will be in the fall. They used to have one in the spring as well, but they must have canceled it. Too bad, it's my favorite local show.

Default Any Yachts?

Gerg,
Sounds like something fun to do. I used to enjoy going because they had some nice boats there in the 40 and up category like Viking, Ocean, Bertram. Noticed last year there it was pretty sparce. Hopefully things are making a comeback. Any big boats there?

Big boats? Nope. They had a luhrs 37(?) IPS and a 35' trawler. Those were the only 2 boats there with any size. Oh, there was a largish chaparral in the 30's but I don't consider those boats.

The biggest carolina classic was 25'. I think there was a 30' whaler. but mostly the boats were under 25 feet.

Small show.

If you are looking to purchase electronics, engines or anything else but a boat, It's a good time to go because you can really get some undivided attention with the vendors..

I liked the new Canyon reels...

Man, that's hard luck for the vendors. It's not like they can go home for the day.

I can imagine what the hotel bars must have looked like on Saturday.

Unfortunatly Saturday was my only day that I could go. Planned to drive down late night Friday but found out about the state of emergency so I bagged it.

I bet that hurt the vendors a lot

I had credit card ready too.

I think/hope most vendors will honor show pricing for a few days this week due to the closing.

I went just today. Show was just ok. I was a little disapointed, but it was better than throwing snow!

Got news from one of my reps at the show. Overall it was a good show, they were actually up from last year and overall even with the shutdown it was a darn good day from the sound of things saleswise.

I was pleasantly surprised with the turn out today. I thought with the lousy weather and the Super Bowl that today would be horrible. It actually turned out to be the best day of the show. I personally sold five boats in four days and have a few really strong possibilities to follow up on.

Hung out on boats, talked about boating and fishing with a lot of very nice people and made a couple of bucks. Overall it was a great show for me.

I'm looking forward to the the next show in Edison, NJ at the Raritan Center... 3/4 thru 3/7.
