Default Live Pogies- Plymouth Summer '10

Would anybody be interested in buying live Pogies somewhere on the south shore (most likely Plymouth) next summer? I will be selling them for $5 a piece. I would most likely be selling the bait on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Please get in contact with me if you would be interested.

Thanks,

Cullen

Cullen, do you deliver to the boat or do we have to come to Plymouth to get them?

Depends on where you are located. If there is a large group of people that would buy from me in your harbor then it would work out. It would also be possible to deliver to boat, however I would deliver them late night or very early morning and put them in a holding pen if possible.

Thanks,

Cullen

I know that is the going price but I just was thinking that a live half lb poggy was selling for 5 bucks off the boat and a live one lb lobster was selling for 2.75 off the boat???? something is wrong with this picture even thougfh I know a live poggy is definatley well worth 5 bucks. Sorry for the tweek and hope it doesn't derail your thread

I am interested to hear about Pogie 1. Cullen, it sounds like you already have your hands full. There are alteast a dozen or so boats in green harbor that have pogies delivered. Get your name out there and be responsive. People will pay $5 each delivered, trust me!

Well, Pogie 1 wont do the guys from Green Harbor any good. Cullen, you may have a shot at this although you have atleast 4 good competitors! Not too mention, all the guys from green harbor are buying smaller boats to catch their own pogies. You have to convince them otherwise!

I am moored in Plymouth Harbor.
How do I become one of the "select"?

Oh yeah, we have heard of mackerel. They are thick as mud outside the Gurnet for about 3 weeks in May then go north for the summer....unfortunately.

I am not going to depend on catching my bait in Duxbury. Last year Duxbury was not a dependable place to catch bait, as i personally experienced many time. Often times people struck out and were not able to hit the bank in the morning. I will be catching pogies elsewhere and transporting them up to Plymouth by truck in large tanks. Whoever is interested you will be guaranteed bait to fish with both saturday and sunday. $5 each. Please let me know if you are interested.

Probably not, but I am going to leave "pogie 1" in the water for some of the brewers guys to use it, cause it's not gonna be much use to me anymore. It's worth a lot more for the purpose it serves than to sell it, it will be my good deed for the year

IMO that will be a LOT of work and they will get all red gilled and will die from all that transporting, Better off just getting a 19ft Carolina skiff and just putting a bunch of 55 gallon drum live wells in it.Just my opinion

My bait nets and pot hauler would be working overtime before I pay 5 bucks a pogie.A 3 hour soak in 20 -30 fathoms usually does well, interesting what comes up some days

The pogie's become red gilled when they constantly fight against the current and bump against the cage in holding pens.
