I was never on Karma, she must be getting the coals put to her to beat 18 kts though. fastest 32 I have seen is 15 KTS realistic, with a load. the boat is a deep heffer meant to make a steady speed through anything, not plane off. unless he has some monster lifting strakes I dont belive she runs 20 Kts. JMHO.
I still frequent winthrop quite a bit, used to work for a well known a$#hole down there and know quite a few members at your club.
Good luck on your search, I would hold out for a 35.

I know of an off market sale on a 38 holland, wont see 20 kts. with it either though. Real nice boat.
Actually I know of a 32 BHM that cruises at 22 to 23 knots and hit 27 knots WOT on the startup. No lifting strakes.

WOW I honestly have seen alot of slow (15KT) 32 BHMs and thought the hull speed was right around there. What does it have for power?
its gotta be burning some serous coal at that speed.

490hp Cummins, common rail, computerized. It's actually a very efficent motor. I don't remember what the burn rate was and we usually stuck to an 18 knot cruise when running any distance.

Winthrop has no shortage of A-HOLES.The two biggest that come to mind are the Harbormaster and Ward Marine. They only way they could be bigger ass-holes is if they gained 10 pounds.

I actually get along with gary I agree on the other account though.
Whats the name of your boat? I wasted a few years of my life with AMM before going on my own with the electronics. After my wife and I got pregnant we split that sh#$hole. My buddy has the 29 Jet Drive CC at the WTP, he fishes on that new 38 Norhtern bay as well. perhaps ill see you around this spring on the cod grounds.

We did a trip on the Elizabeth Marie out of Scituate, 32 BHM and he easily did a 18 knots cruise

The 35 duffy was winning the worlds fastest lobsterboat races diesel case when it first came out. I think that was a 375 cat 3208. Back then mid 30s took that class. It just goes to show how the duffy will be a timeless design for a all purpose boat. It can do a little bit of everything well. As a lobsterman, I have the need to have the boat go slow too. It does that well. You go fast guys should concider this when you need speeds to troll , idle through canals 5mph ot less , even docking. Its though to try to dock when your slow idle speed is 6 mph.
Mid 30's in a duffy 35 with a 375HP 3208? Was that boat finished as an open center console? Not trying to be a wisea$$ but I've been on Duffy 35's that were balanced well with 450HP that could barely cruise 22kts...to make that boat go she has to be light as a feather. Everything cored, no finish, etc. Regarding your last two points, that's why God created trolling valves......

Ayuh. You can make the BHM's go, it's just gonna take a lot more power than the Beal designs (or the Duffys for that matter) to do it.

I'm pretty sure that is what the duffy had that was winning worlds fastest diesel lobsterboat back in 1983. That may have been the highest hp rating for the 3208 at that time. I'm sure I can look up race results somewhere to find out exactly what it was. I know my boat was about 22 WOT when everything was perfect with 200 hp. Its solid glass but I would say it is still light since it is only a basic lobsterboat. Trolling valves seemed to have been proved inpractical on lobster boats. The 200hp is way to practical for making money with. I was going out lobstering and burning 35 gallons on easy weeks. Even the BHMs working alot less were burning 25% more fuel. That counts alot when fuel went to $4 gallon. Some of the boats couldn't even go out. Everything went towards fuel

Grandfather has 35 duffy with 3208cat cruises 17.5knts/ wide open 21.5knts. Cored hull . Alot of the faster duffys you see have big pitch wheels cant make rpm but they are fast.

The 32 bhm is a 16.5 knt boat with a 6cta cummins /maybe wide open 20knts.
Recreational fishing or any type of drift fishing i would prefer the bhm over the duffy.
Duffy imo very rolly on the drift/phenomenal head sea boat/not so good in a following ,does not track well.
Bhm stable platform/ok at best in a head sea /ok at best in a following sea.
I currently own a 40 rp with qsm11 660hp cummins
even though the size of the boat is a little bigger the 35 is very comparable.in a head see at best it is ok/following sea imo their isnt a better boat on the market. On the drift in 6-8ft seas u can put 10 guys on the side of the boat,it dont lean and has the most stable platform on the market imo. Dickies rp with the right horsepower package and built right will move nice. My boat is a 17knot boat,w/660gallons of fuel.

Just a little help as far as some other comparisons hanson.
My boat is rigged heavy/ lottla extras.
Hope this helps you with your pick.
