I am setting up 2 baitrunners and a penn GTI for bass and blues. It will be my first full season w/ my own boat in a new area. I would love to live line and chunck for bass. I am out of salem sound. Plenty of rocky ledges etc... I am not a huge fan of trolling, but now that I finally have my own boat, i wouldnt mind spending some time at it.
What i really need to do is learn the area. Not sure where to look for mackeral and other live bait.

Also putting together 2 rigs for cod as well.
Thanks in advance

if you are casting, the best and slimmest is the PR knot found for me. needs a bobbin. and not really a knot to tie at sea. if you are not casting all above reccomendations are good and dont read below i took it to mean casting question. if casting have not found any better knot, both breaking and slim profile. there are a couple diff bobbins out there, one pricey and one less so. typical new knot took me an hour-2 to get it right. and the videos online were in japanese or spanish or some other language. i use a shock leader instead of fluoro but thats preference. huge amount of stress on repeated casts. probably change ANY knot out every trip or 2. test.

am using PE braid 100 lb test and 80lb leader on a stella 1800 for BFT. considering another reel ready to go maybe van staal. found some of the popular braids are way to stiff and frankly dont like em for casting to tuna no probs cod jigging though them. at least go up a notch from that most popular green colored braid (name withheld hate it). PE is pricey sheet but so soft. wtf gonna scrimp on line once offshore??

another option frankly is a spro swivel for casting and a fallback if offshore no way bobbbin comes out then.

i found the other knots profile 2 large for casting and the stress of hitting guides in combo with that bigger profile caused withn a day degradation which usually shows its murphiness when the tuna jump and you give it the extra heave. the PR and its variations are as slim as can be...got some links around the net for the PR or if you are on cape cod be glad to show ya.

not knockin any of the knots above, you can tie them at sea . just check out the profile in comparison to the PR which was developed specifically for casting/jigging to tunas and the problem of braid to mono.

I second the Alberto. It's basically and Albright with twice the turns in it... Make sure you go back out the loop the same way you came in. Never had one fail....
