58 Brown, 41 Coakley. I am very proud of Dennis. I think the outer Cape gets too much wind and salt corrosion.

What the hells wrong with Newburyport???????? No more trips there on the boat, or drive for dinner, or shop downtown. Not to mention Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket are also off the list of places to spend my money.

Threatening to stay away from the Merrimack will only build support from the other side. I wouldn't at all mind seeing less boats there!

I'm sorry, but this is the last thread on the election in this forum. Any additional political threads must be posted in the Bilge.

Every other conceivable topic about fishing and boating is covered elsewhere

Why can't any subject of importance to the North East be discussed under what surely seems like the appropriate heading "North East"

You really should consider changing your rules.

Your "No freedom of speech " on a private website will hurt you folks in the pocket book long before it causes its members any grief.

I was surprised at how many scott brown signs I saw driving around Newburyport so the whole town is not lost ... just most of it

Yarmouth - 60% Brown 40% Coakley

When I started seeing his signs in Yarmouthport, I knew either the Apocalypse was near, or Brown might just have a shot!

Glad it turned out to be the latter!

I don't think you're being very fair about it. For many years politics has not been allowed outside the bilge. Furthermore censorship as we'll call it has been happening from the very beginning. If Wiley didn't like it it was gone. That fast, end of subject. A few members have fought back with IB and you'll find that it's mostly no holes barred down in the bilge. It gets a little wild wild west once in a while but that's what it's there for.

I'd cut 4 a little slack. They allowed it for this election and now you want it permanent. He/they could have wiped it off the forum w/o any explanation whatsoever. I think you're being unreasonable when there is a place to battle it out.

Hey Mist...not to change the subject...but what happened with your town. I think you better sell some of those houses real cheap to your huntin friends and help change the demographic. I bet the neighbors would love to see me skinning out a buck on the front porch

Newburyport has a high concentration of alternative lifestyle people, always vote Dem.
My town was 71 Brown, but they always vote Rep.

George,
My plumber got one with a bow that took off and died in a neighbors yard outside the living room window. Does that count? I posted the numbers earlier in the thread. She won the town as I expected but not by much. The showing was great! We need more hunters and gun owners too. We can change the demo's one sale at a time.

I got lots for sale, limited time 450K each. Houses will set you back another 900K+. The good news is that starting pay for teachers just went up to 74K or something like that. No need for you to retire with that wage plus your years of service. I can set you up on one of the lots that backs up to the grounds giving you plenty of land to hunt for years to come. Only the best landscaped fed deer allowed. I don't think the skinning will bother them as much as that over sized beer can you call a boat will.

At least you know where the cold beer is at everyday at 4:30.

While you may like the idea of being able to post anything about an area in a regional forum, think about what the site would look like with no organization and everything tossed into one big forum. It would be a mess. You'd log on and have to begin sorting through endless posts trying to find what interests you. So, some organization is obviously required. As you all know, we are forever having people try and break the system by posting things like ads in the boating forum. The rules have been established and the moderators are responsible for keeping posting within the rules.

I made a significant exception to the rules because of the very high profile nature of the election. But even then, I had to keep coming back to the thread to keep it on topic by cleaning out the insults and banter about previous administrations. Normally, the regional forums take very little oversight - in fact, you might ask yourself when the last time you saw any obvious moderation in the Northeast forum. Sure, I delete unpaid ads, but I don't remember having to read the threads and posts for content.

I had a choice: I could have deleted the threads or moved them to the Bilge, where it would not have mattered if there were insults or they slid of into the "It's all Bush/Clintons fault" and the arguments quickly degrade into name calling. But, by leaving it here, it stayed relevant to the election and very current. So, I'm sorry if some of you consider it some sort of absurd censorship, but in reality I think the Northeast Forum was better off for the exception being made and the thread being allowed to stay.

Even though I've stretched the rules even farther by by allowing this thread to remain after the election, some of you seem to be annoyed by my actions and feel they were somehow unreasonable. What you may not have considered was the number of alerts and PM's from people who were upset that I did not delete everything as it was posted. We try and maintain a balance, but doing so never seems to please everyone.

So, as before, I can allow this thread to stay as long as it remains on topic, but otherwise, we're back to politics in the Bilge.
