Default Dump The Politics

My vote is to keep this forum free of politics. Bilge is available for those who want to argue which politicians are the most rotten.

Get rid of the politics & sports. They have nothing to do with boating.

Proves how some people walk around with their head stuck in the sand (or somewhere the sun doesn't shine) if they believe politics has nothing to do with boating or fishing or sports or freedom to choose your pasttimes, no wonder HOPE and CHANGE is doing exactly as they promised, our life is changing. Wonder if we are gonna be allowed to even set on our porch's and rock without getting their blessings?

I agree!
Fishings laws etc have their place here, but many of the threads just get hijacked and turn into political tantrums. It chases a lot of people away, which ultimately hurts THT, and it's reputation.

It seems to me that it's a pretty simple choice, if you're not interested in the thread don't read it or click on it.

The problem is that even non political threads about old batteries, weather, oysters, or safety equipment get hijacked. It starts out as an informative thread then deteriorates into political rants.

It is not as trivial as you try to make it. It is not as easy as staying away from an Iraq War thread or an abortion thread.

then why are you in a thread where the title is political and attacking it?
thread jacking happens at every forum I frequent.
just like all conversations have the chance to turn political, too bad the government and polititans have that much influence in our lives.
we need this change in Mass.

Good point. Many times I check out a thread because I have an interest in the boating or fishing aspect of it. The next thing you know somebody is ranting about their favorite political agenda. I really don't have much interest in machoman1's world views, but if they can teach me more about fishing, I'll read. They are 2 separate entities. My belief is that a lot of guys miss out on potentially good boating/fishing info because they are turned off by the rants. Suggesting they just don't read the threads misses the point.
