Worth every penny. You will pay by the foot of the slip or boat, whichever is greater.

My recollection is that slips in that area run $125 to $150/foot, with the higher prices as you locate closer to thehead of the pond. For several years I slipped at stone cove, which is very clean (facilities) and right off the highway. Down side is your looking at taking 20 minutes or so to your trip each way due to the no wake zones.

Quite frankly, if you primarily fish, have an easily trailerable boat and are comfortable launching and retrieving it alone (or whomever you typically fish with) a slip is more of a nuisance. Bottom paint, boat always exposed to salt, and hauling gear to and from the boat every trip takes more time. I like having my boat loaded in my yard the night before and am on the water fishing within about an hour, most of the time spend traveling as I have to do either way. Thats with a 26 foot CC and often alone.

Now if you are in an area where you cannot load the boat beforehand due to theft, or if you have no good place to store the boat on the trailer, then thats a different story. You also add complexity to the equation if you want to fish somewhere else other than Point Judith. I fish the bay, cape cod out of GH, Sandwich or Plymouth and point judith. For me I won't even consider it and I have done both.

A pleasure craft is a different animal. If at a moments notice you want to take a cocktail cruise after dinner it is mor convenient. Other than that, I'm not a fan.

The one and only aspect of slipping my boat that I miss are the acquaintances I made during the several years I did slip a boat. In my case they were courteous folks that would help any way they could if needed and I wold be perfectly comfortable having my children arund the group, although as in every situation there is always a D-head on occasion you need to deal with. The neighbors were from all walks of life. Was a fun environment during my late 20's.

The closer to the mouth you go the more you pay per foot......

Use to be at the top of the salt pond "Marina Bay" few years back.....when they tried to charge me for 30" of my motor being tilted out of the water (when the boat was slipped) I told them go $%#% yourself and went back to trailering between RI & Mass......besides the cod fishing is better on Stellwagon

I'm at Ram point and it's $85 a foot for the 2010 season. Came down quite a bit from 2009. I do dislike the ride out of there, however, but not enough to pay double to be further south.

Last season I moved from new london to point judith marina and I couldn't be happier. I'm closer to the fishing, and I don't have to hump through the slop between the race and montauk every trip.

I forget what it is per foot, but I think it's something like $150. I more than make up for that in saved fuel.

Slips used to be very hard to get. Every marina had a long waiting list, and they rarely had an opening. That changed last year. Seems a lot of people got out of boating, or at least got out of PJ.
