Default LI Sound/Angler Panga/Others

Anyone have experience with a 26' Angler Panga in the northeast? Thinking about buying my first boat and running on LI Sound. Thanks for all replies! Other boat suggestions for the LI sound? Leaning towards a CC in the 24' to 27' range. Would be using 70/30 fishing/cruising. What works best in the chop? I've been reading many threads and it seems like every boat is a compromise . So looking for some friendly advice from experienced western LI sound captains!

Here's something definately worth looking at

I've been on a couple of older Steigers and handle western sound chop well.
Very solid feel. I woulsd assume new models are the same. You can even drop by the factory on LI to take a peek.

Good Hunting!

Buying new or used? That big a CC will allow you to run all over LIS and to the Race and even offshore. Sure you don't want a cabin? A friend has a 25 Parker extended cabin twin 200's and the boat is awesome. HydraSport makes some great big CC's. Top end boats like Grady, Whaler, Contender etc are super, too. How fast do you want to go? Fuel burn? Taking the family? Shop relentlessly. Research relentlessly.

Buying used - would like to keep it under $35K. Taking the family sometimes - the kids want a cabin - I don't want the maintenance. Offshore is a hike from western Sound - likely not going to happen to often. Plus I have access to another boat out in West Islip. Fuel burn is an issue - so I'm leaning towards a single outboard with a kicker for insurance/trolling. A older GW Chase hull with newer 4 stroke motor may be the ticket. I will check out the HydraSports and Steigers (although the 25' CC is a new model). Thanks.
