Default The weirdest thing happend...

Last night I fished the point canal from 930 til around midnight. There was absolutely no action until the tide hit slack and started outgoing, what I excepted. When the tide just hit incoming, fish started jumping. I mean bait was get pushed to the walls and there were very big splashes, striper slashes all around. I did not catch a single thing all night and tried nearly every lure I brought. Metal, bombers, soft plastics, needlefish, basically my entire tackle box, and not even a hit. What the heck was going on????

They were keyed in on the natural bait, and would not touch anything else.

I fish the northshore on long island and when the bass are on the peanuts they can be impossible to catch. I have had some luck with rattletraps under those conditions. You have to work them on the outside of the bait schools and the noise seems to catch their attention. You can also try poppers that rattle.
