Didn't see any sharks but there was a huge school of porpoise about halfway between Pt. Judith and Block busting water everywhere and playing in the bow wave for a mile or so. The Bluefish are still thick from surface to about mid depth and are quite annoying. The best success we had was quick dropping eels with at least 4oz on a three way to get them down fast and even then the Blues took their share on the way down. I usually like very light lead bullet weights used like a fishfinder rig but you won't get the eels past the wolves that way. I think that is why so many reports of no bass and all Blues is coming from Montauk to BI. The Stripers are hanging right on the bottom in and around the various boulders as seen on the finder and as verified by where we hooked em.

I'm still trying to get out without a small craft advisory
|
I hear ya, it's tough to get nice conditions in the fall out there. We left in the morning under small craft knowing it would be a crappy ride out. With the wind shift in the afternoon from South to North things laid down a lot and the ride home was 28kts all the way to Portsmouth. Although not the best on the drift the Carolina has proven to be a worthy
bass boat to get you there and back when it is nasty fairly comfortably.
