Random Quote: Here's to swiming with bow legged women!!!
I caught some while they were around and am saving them for the Stripers.
I cut 'em into chunks just as I would for anything else and put on a 10/0 Circle hook.
Drift, and weighted methods.
Still have to get a flat of Bunker because I'll run out of Spot pretty quick.
If I could get them, I would use them live.
I have not seen Spot around when the big Stripes come in, water temps too cold for them.
You use them frozen, whole or pieces? You use them in combination with anything else?
I'm hearing also that that Gulp makes some good stuff for them...
Sorry for all the questions. I haven't done much Striper fishing so I'm still learning. I've read about some of the crazy gear some people use for fishing for them off a boat... Monel lines and other crazy things. I don't know if I want to go that far... but I would like to be better at it.
Ah man, you don't need nuttin' special!
We have been catching them for decades with a basic hook & line.
They want fish, you give 'em fish.
That simple.
Currently, they are in deep freeze. I throw them in the catch cooler with no ice the morning before I head out.
By the time I get to hookin' up, some will be "Thawed for your convenience".
The cut size used depends on the size of the fish in the area.
I'll use heads and vertical strips, about 5 from a 1.5 lb Spot.
When the hogs get here, I will use half a Spot on the hook.
That makes three baits from one fish, including the head.
