80 flouro is fine, I use the 11/0 live bait hooks or the saltwater ones, either work, anyhting will work (provided its beefy enough) hook the mack through the back . if your marking down deep then yes you can use a weight to get the mack down. If you use a weight u can rubber band it to the line. leave a lead from the hook to the weight of about 15 feet, then from the weight to the balloon is how deep you want it to run, send the weight down slow so on the ride down the mack doesn't get drowned. use rubber bands to attatch the balloon to the main line. if your marking up high or if you have busting fish, no weight, give the mack about a 12 foot leash or so to the balloon and ship him out.

go get em

Pretty light on the Fluoro, I'd use 130 if you have it available. 10' leaders, no weights, slow troll or add balloon to keep the bait within 10-12' of the surface to keep it away from the dogs. Good luck, we'll be out trolling Sunday if the weather allows.

Keeping um high may not help. I was out in friday and had dogs all over the surfface and marked them all through the water column. keep the bait moving slow troll way back. We were out for half day and pulld out a 65" fish on an XRap off the long rigger.

80 lb flouro leader is fine if your chasing smaller fish 100-200 lbs. Use a 9/0 Gammi hook and hook the mackeral between the dorsal fin and head then run a baloon 15-20 feet behind the bait. Stellwagon is all dogged up so you definately want them up. had 5 knock downs on sunday including a double, landed two the biggest was 68in so the bite is on.
