plan on fishing into november for haddock pollock, can some one tell me the rec regs for cod starting nov 1st, for stellwagen bank area north, from what i can gather, its 2 fish per person up to 75lbs per boat, as some people have told cod is closed as of nov 1st, any help on this would be great, fished for cod and haddock this past wensday at stellwagen, lots of dog fish with some nice cod mixed in ended up with over 30 keepers in 2 hours, as we tuna fished most of the am, with no joy shawn from ludlow mass
No fish allowed North of the 42 line in Fed waters and the 2 fish/person 75lb/boat in State waters. Not even worth the effort unless you go East or SE of Chatham
Stock the fridge as this is the last week.
I also went out last week after the Tuna bite died and got a ton of shorts and the Dogs where pathetic. Serveral weeks ago about 3 miles off of Peaked Hill I came across a School of dogs right on the surface that had to be at least a half mile long and several hundred yards wide and so thick you could almost walk on them.
When you do go out there, take 2 Cod per person or the 75 lbs for the boat, all the 18"+ Haddock you can handle and ALL the Pollock you want, unlimited Pollock!
Those regs in that link apply to Stellwagen. You can keep 2 cod per person or a total of 75 lbs of Cod on the boat. Yes, you can still keep Cod if you caught them on the bank.

(v) Seasonal GOM cod possession prohibition . Persons aboard private recreational fishing vessels fishing in the GOM Regulated Mesh Area specified under §648.80(a)(1) may not fish for or possess any cod from November 1 through March 31. Private recreational vessels in possession of cod caught outside the GOM Regulated Mesh Area may transit this area, provided all bait and hooks are removed from fishing rods and any cod on board has been gutted and stored.
