Default repower

Hey guys,

I want to repower my sons boat with a used outboard 2-stroke 90-115 HP. Currently has an '89 merc 80hp and its starting to crap out.

Anyone have any leads...or any idea what it costs to do a new repower?

I went through a search for a 70hp two stroke at the end of August and recommendations heavily leaned towards Yamaha, followed by Tohatsu. I went the Yamaha and everything has been fine. I believe the 70hp and 90hp are essentially the same engines.

I am looking to repower my boat this spring as well - currently I have 2 '97 Evinrude Ocean Pro 150 V6 2-strokes on a 24' HS WA.
Both run great, took em to Jefferies on Monday and plan on fishing through Nov if the fish hold. Why you ask? They love the fuel...
I am moving to 4-strokes, eliminate 2-stroke oil and 2x the GPH.

So - I will be selling 1 of the 150's if interested, the other is going on a 18' CC that is also going up for sale in the spring. - I figured I would start talking about them now so people can see them running before they are on a crate.

For the 70hp Yamaha, all in with new controls, tanks, fuel lines, filter, taxes, etc was just under $8k installed in Maine.

just call the marinas and shops in your area around December. Ask them for a lightly used 2 stroke. See what they say. So many folks are going with the 4 strokes that you may get lucky and find something like a lightly used 90 merc smoker for low money. I ran one for years - you can't kill them.
