She's out -- naturally the day I take it out, 70 Degrees calm wind. That's how it goes.

For anyone following (or stumbling) on this thread... here is a link to Jack's post on the trim tab zincs:
http://seahuntownersgroup.yuku.com/t...-For-Pete.html

Sort of weird that this thread went to this (sorry OP), but we do winterize in the Barnagat Inlet area... so it sort of works. :D

Thanks Jack!

Hate to break it to you Pete and Jack, but today was a great day out on the water! I got a nice 30 inch bass, which was the first bass I ever caught on my own boat (others have been on party boats and charters). Water was like glass and temps were high 50's to abt 60 with no wind. I caught mine on a lure while jigging, but guys fishing live spot were doing great (I should have learned from your post wa hile back Pete).
All in all, a great day. Boat gets pulled out now :-(

Figures. But I'm happy you had luck. Also happy for the confirmation on Spot!! Friend went out with a crew of 3, went with umbrellas and such. Got one keeper. A different guy went out solo with Spot and was catching all day.

Keep in touch during the off season. PM me and we can exchange tel. numbers if you want...

I am trying to stay in till Thanksgiving but it looks like the rest of the week is shot for fishing. I hate seeing a report that says seas 9-14 ft subsiding to 4-6 ft.

What bait shops carry spot in the area? I've never see or heard of anyone using spot for bait outside of here but I think I need to try it out.

Pete-
I'll def keep in touch, and we'll get out there when Spring finally comes around. I think I have the Striper bug- I can see how some guys get totally sucked in.

Boatless33-
Barnegat Light Bait and Tackle had spot, but I'd imagine any shop that caters to boat fisherman would carry them. From what I've read, spot are best used on boats, but I'd certainly try them from the surf if I were you. Guys who fished them yesterday were nailing 'em. I was told they are expensive- maybe $2.50 a piece. That can get really costly when the blues are around.

Thanks for the info stox. It doesn't look like I'm going to be using bait this weekend. From the reports I've been hearing, big metals are needed. Hopefully things will clear up before I gotta go back to Pa for school. I already pay $2 for a bunker so that extra 50 cents won't kill me. If its calm enough to use bait around Thanksgiving I'll give it a shot.

Nope I'm out since the start of the month. My neighbor is still in... went out twice so far. Been learning a lot about trolling... never thought you could catch so many fish without a single piece of bait. (spoons and umbrella jigs only... amazing...)
