OK, as hard as this may be to admit, I have come to the realization that I really am not good at fishing.
So there is is, I said it and there is no taking it back. When the fish make out better than I do on my excursions, it becomes obvious that all I am doing is charity work for my local feed a fish foundation. It's time to feed me for a change. We are done fattening up the local fish for all of you guys to catch. I think I even heard laughter from under the boat on our last drift.
I have the boat, I have what I think and have been told is decent gear but what I need is soemone to show me how to really find the fish and bring em in. Sure we have got lucky a few times with some mediocre blues and a couple microscopic flounder, some skates and lots of small sharks. All fun to catch but we would really like to be hooking into stripers, larger blues and eventually some tuna. Something worthy of taking home for dinner. Or at least worthy of bragging about on the forums with pictures to match.
I touched on this topic once before but now its time to do something about it. Striper season is coming and I would really like to end the season with dinner not bought from the local seafood restaraunt.
What I am looking for is a decent guide to run with me and a couple of guys on my boat and show us what we need to do to to target, track down and filet some good fish. Some pointers on the Raymarine would be helpfull too but thats another story. It is a 25 foot cat and we would run out of Sea Isle City, NJ. It would have to be a Saturday and would love to get a trip in before the weather puts us in dry dock for the winter.
Anyone on this board a guide with some patience willing to change our luck? Anyone know of anyone? I have checked a cuple of local charters but they mostly want to use their own boats. I am OK with that but figure I have my own so why not use it.
Yours Truly,
The Frustrated Fish Feeding Fool
