Default Buzzards Bay Albies

Went out today Albie fishing. This was a 1st for me and we landed 1 fish in the boat. Insane fight for there size. Caught it on a deadly dick. It is amazing on how fast these fish move and how they are picky on what they eat. I must of saw 100+ albies today but could only get one to bit. Any tips? Or are they just a finicky fish.

Keep working them, use flurocarbon because they are line shy. Do not motor up on them. Stay on the outskirts. They'll come by. They are all over the place. Sluiceway all the way up to nantucket. Use daedly dicks, swedish pimples, similar tins.

Default Not Catching?

I'm interested in any tackle setup that albies WON'T bite. For every bluefin we get to the boat, we have to fight five albies that grab the jigs. By the time you get a bluefin on, you're exhausted!

ahh, nothing like a good old late summer buzzards bay cluster f*ck. watching you sports bomb around trying to catch them things may actually be even more fun than catching them.

Andy, you kill me. Too funny. No doubt, we are all acting like fools trying to catch a fish that no one eats.

I'm surpirsed to hear NJVector say he easily catches them while fishing for tuna. When it comes to insore fishing, the OP has it right. They are very finicky.

To the OP, here is my best tip. Take the DD out of the box. Remove the swivel, and tie it directly to the line. I find the swivel cuts way down on the number of hits.

They've been running around in LIS pretty good the last couple weeks.
Best I've seen in years in fact.
The deadly dicks work good, but you have to use a flouro leader and tie direct to your running line.
It also seems that the fewer boats that are chasing them, the less finicky they are.

I agree, they are a blast on light tackle.

Neither one's me, I'm an old fart.

Those are the kids, the one with the bone is mine, the other his friend.
The bones were swimming with the albies, but not as numerous.
Lot of fun chasing these guys with your buddy and your kids, you really can't beat it IMO.

See, Billybob = Old.
