Default Montaul Offshore Fishing

Every year I trailer boat out to Montauk for striper fishing. I wanted to try going Offshore this time and was wondering if anyone could recomend a wreck-location.
I am not looking for anyones secret fishing location just some advice as to where might be a good starting spot within 15 mile range of Montauk Harbor. I have 23 Grady Gulfstream and have fished off shore 25 mile range from Fire Island Inlet with decent success.
Any help or advice would be deeply appreciated.

Easy run when weather is nice - there may be some bluefin in there

The usual tuna stuff will produce. A few weeks ago there might have been some mahi too but I htink water too cold now. pretty much due south of the pt - your chartplotter will show it.

What are you fishing for? Shark, tuna, cod, mahi?

There are dozens of locations within an hour of montauk. Go down to a good tackle shop and get a captain seagull guide. Then look at the sea surface temps and find a spot with a good water profile. Then look for life or other boats.

There is a lot of good fishing out there. Jennies/Ryans are good for shark and occasionally tuna. So is the butterfish hole, but it is closer.

Good luck.

The butterfish to jennies, or the 30 fathom line west to the ranger wreck, are all ground zero for sharks right now. The water is cooling fast, but as long as it is over 60 you stand the chance to have a good day sharking.

Stop by the rips at the point and load up on bluefish. Just look for the mosquito fleet and you can find the bait.
