I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good sandbars around, I think thats what they are called.. (A bar you can pull up to on your boat).. I heard there were a few around Jersey and NY but don't know the location of any... I'm looking for one where I can go with a few buddies this weekend..

I think there's a Tiki bar at the Atlantic Highlands Marina, though I haven't been, and Paddy McGee's in Island Park has a dock: http://www.paddymcgees.com

Oh, and there's the Sand Bar in Jersey City. I've been there by land and seen boats pull up to ~60ft dock near the bar, but I don't know if they have slips, so there may not be that much room.

Fire Island, in NY, from the Great South bay there are lots of them. The best area's are the towns of Kismet and Ocean Beach or Ocean Bay Park. Go into the Great South Bay thru Fire Island inlet, and run east thru the makeed channels and you will see the towns, docks and bars.

If you swing both ways, head a bit easterly over to Cherry Grove for some more adventurous "fun"!!
