Default Tuna fishing

How are you guys that are tuna fishing with out a transom door
bringing the 30" and under fish on the boat, you obviously can't
gaff the fish if you are not sure if it is a legal fish ?
just looking for some idea as I don't have a transom door

Thanks
Mark

I have a transom door but only use it on large fish, 200 lbs +.

To answer your question, I use a large landing net or sometimes pick them up by the leader if they are that small. Either way, with some gentle handling, will insure a healthy release.

Good Luck,
VC

I wish we had this problem. All I want is a small tuna for dinner. Everything is 70" here and crazy amount of meat to kill a fish to feed 50 people.

I will swap you a 30" for a 70" none of it will go to waste
