Thanks. The live eel worked, but I know if I had the right stuff, I would have caught the limit.
A little tip to my Vinyard Sound buddies here, the Berkley "Gulp" line includes a saltwater sand eel bait. I tried it on fluke last week, and it outfished squid strips 7 to 0!!! My neighbor tells me he has caught keeper stripers with them. I'll find out this weekend.
What is the Berkely Gulp line? I'll be out there this weekend and would love to try it...
It's one of those artificial bait's made by Berkely. Support your local tackle shop, they should have them or something similar.
Here's a link to Cabela's so you can see the product (still hit your local shop!): http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...=Google&cm_pla=
I can attest to the seaworms being a good product. Fishing tube and worms with live sandworms on one rod and "Gulp Alive" on the other I could not see a difference between the two. They are expensive but not a bad thing to keep onboard in reserve. I was using the 6" naturals http://www.cabelas.com/p-0048578.shtml which even in bulk still cost about 60 cents each.

People gave you the right advice on the manufacturer, but they have not shown the right product. They actually make a sand eel in four or five different colors. If you know what sand eels are, you know they are not actually eels, but small fish. The sand eel run in Vinyard sound has been huge this year. Everything I catch is puking them up by the time I get the catch in the boat. I figured, why not try using what they are going after? The Berkley product is about two to three times bigger than an actual sand eel, but it works great on fluke. I still have not tried it on Bass. I used the mud color and the blue color (I think they call it mackerel color). They are inexpensive, reusable, and come in a zip lock pouch with some sore of scent gravy.
Last Sunday in an easterly wind we trolled for over two hours on Tom's Shoal. NOTHING! Not even bluefish. It may have been the wind, but Tom's looks dead. The folks I was with were doing well in Tom's Shoal all summer using prachutes.
I caught a 25 inch schoolie in one of the Falmouth inlets using a poggie lure. I forget the name, but they are made of soft plastic and have all sorts of holographics that look very real. Later on Sunday, after getting back from Tom's, I tried again, but no luck in the inlet either. Could just be the curse of the easterly wind, but one of my neighbors did well fluking on Hedge Fence.
I got a couple small blues at middle ground, a black sea bass and a keeper fluke off Cape Higgon...word was Lobsterville was onfire but never made it over there.
Devils Bridge for three foot fish. Two of us went out from Falmouth at about 7:30 yesterday morning. We were back at the dock at 11:00 with our limit. I went with 30 pogies and had 15 left over. I gave them out to other boats in the area that only had squid. I was in a group of four boats and we were all catching, hooking up at about five minute intervals. We lost two and released another because it was only about 32 inches and would have been our last fish. Between the glorious weather, calm seas and hungry fish, it was just a perfect morning.

Live, or chunking pogies? Was out there by the rip at gay head and got a big ass 0. Only some short fluke on the way in.
I've had no luck at Robinson's Hole this year. I went this past weekend, Tuesday of last week, and the prior weekend. No Stripers. I was fishing outside and inside the hole. I'd be interested to hear if others have had any better luck.
On Sunday, I got to Robinsons around 11:00 after chasing Bontia for a while. The seas were very calm and we cruised out at about 33 mph indicated on the GPS. Nothing at Robinsons.
Devil's Bridge contiues to produce. We got to the bridge around 12:30 yesterday. We hit a fish about every 15 minutes. Landed 4 nice keepers and released a schoolie. Then they were just gone. I wish I had gone directly to the Bridge and not wasted any time in Robinson's. We would have limited. There were many other boats in the area and it seemed everyone with pogies was hooking up at a steady rate.
Next, we fished the cans off Squibnockett. Arrived around 2:45. I saw one boat land a good size fish, but most were quiet. We were hitting Black Bass and Scup.
Went to the north side of Nomans around 3:30. Hit a dogfish and decided the day was over. Started heading back in around 4:15. The seas were pretty snotty and were had to come in slow, heading west and paralleling the seas for a rocky ride until we hit the bridge and turned to the east. Then we were able to come in at around 25 mph. I was surprised to see how few boats were out there in the afternoon.
All in all a great day, but I sure wish the stripers were a bit closer to home.
I was trolling along the Elizabeths yesterday and all around Quicks Hole. We marked a few fish, but we skunked. Nice day for a boat ride, but I had to stop at the fish market on the way home.
Maybe i wasn't in the same spot that you guys fish , but a charter buddy of mine took me on his boat, last week out of hiannis harbor we left at 6:30 and returned at 1:30 caught a total of 34 strippers biggest one 39" . All were caught on white jigs with a green tail put on them.
spent saturday chunking pogies at Devils bridge and the squibnoket cans and got skunked. another boat there landed a 30lber around 2 pm, just when we were there.
