Went out to the middle grounds yesterday in my skiff trolling for stripers/blues. I had a few hours to kill and it was my first time on the water this season. Had 6 schoolie stripers up to 27" and 3 bluefish. trolled yozuris. saw a bunch of squid boats working the sound as well, which is a good sign. it was a bit snarly out but still fun in the rain. cant wait for this season.
Rose, if the bass are feeding on squid try trolling big bucktails or parachutes.
yeah next week im gonna try and get out and jig parachutes on wire line in the deeper water between middle ground and the shore...usually heats up toward the end of the month there and continues for another two months
