Default Striper tracking

Could we use this thread to track the Northward migration? When you have firsthand knowledge bring it to the top with the area.

Tbodes,

I don't think you have much to worry about. A month and a half will still be a little early.

I'll let you know when the Hudson River fish make their way through the western sound. The boat will be wet the second week of April. Now I just have to dig out the buffer, the compound, and wax. Do you think a 9 year old boy is capable of using the Makita. Just joking - I think.

Last year, I caught my first schoolie, april 24th... Chatham... I'm tempted to trailer the boat a little west early this year... i've never caught a black sea bass...

By the second week in April there is normally keeper size fish with bait in the Western part of the Sound (NY). I'll send up a flare after I hook my first kepper.

Been hooking hold over Stripers in the 20's all winter.

In Gloucester we can tell when the schookies are in when the fly fisherman start to show up in the "Little River" off the "Annisquam River" behind Nichols candy store on rt 128.

Dont they usually start showing up off Block Island in mid April ???

I haven't seen any fish in RI yet, but they must be moving out of the Thames by now... I would say schoolies in another week or so, and the bigger guys soon to follow... Going to put the finishing touches on her today, splashing this week!!

Saw a local report this morning from folks that fished the Thames over the weekend, and they fish it throughout the winter for holdovers...they stated that they think the over-winter schools are "breaking up" - i.e. - on the move!
