Just do me a favor. If you head to Western Maine please buy, don't build. For 35+ years I have watched the encroachment up there. We have 10 houses on our 2 mile road now..

mcleaves is right. no need to build anyway half the state seems to be for sale. You are in a great spot to benefit from the slow real estate market. Come on up to Newry not much in the way of lakes but the skiing is great and so is the snowmobiling.

BTW, if anyone cares, our place is in Albany. Was my grandparents home. All the areas mentioned so far in Western Maine are desireable IMO

Newry, is great, as long as you don't blink on the way to Grafton Notch and miss it
